UU cares about the Health and Wellbeing of their employees and we work together to ensure we provide easy access and the best possible care.

There are multiple ways in which you can access our services as a UU employee. Whether you are based at the head office Lingley Mere site, in a call centre in Whitehaven or out in the field, you can access our services as part of your employee benefits.

You can utilise your employee private health insurance for physiotherapy and we’ll bill WPA directly, leaving you to focus on your treatment and getting pain-free. Depending on the scheme you’re on (employee or management) you have varying levels of cover for Physio treatment:

  • Employee (Basic) = £250 per year
  • Employee (Top up) = £500 per year
  • Management = up to 10 sessions per condition (when direct via WPA with GP referral)

Workstation Assessments

We work with United Utilities to provide Workstation assessments for employees working from home. Due to the current pandemic many of UU’s employees were moved to working from home. To ensure employees have the correct set up and equipment to prevent injury we carry out a detailed assessment of the employees workstation set up and provide recommendations via a report back to their line manager. For more information on the DSE/workstation process please visit the UU internal intranet “Pipeline”.

UU Workstation Referral

If you are interested in this service for your own company please email us at for more information.

Occupational Health

United Utilities use Optima for all occupational health referrals. When an employee is referred via occupational health for physiotherapy treatment they will be contacted by a third party company called IPRS. We are registered as a physiotherapy practice with the IPRS supply chain and are able to provide treatment for all UU employees via this method. Employees must request to be seen at The Physio Lounge, Lingley Mere if you would like to be seen by one of our team. Otherwise, you may be sent elsewhere.

If you would like to be referred via occupational health then please speak to your manager or the Health and Wellbeing team at United Utilities.

Once we receive the referral from Optima/IPRS, our admin team ill be in touch to arrange your assessment.

Our Reviews

I would like to thank The Physio Lounge for the recent help i received. I had hurt my lower back and was in extreme pain. I thought due to the covid 19 restrictions I would have to suffer. However i contacted the Physio Lounge and a video call was set up.

I have been attending The Physio Lounge since September 2019 twice a week after a serious motorcycle accident with very complex injuries. I have nothing but admiration for Craig and his colleagues dealing and treating me. They have shown me total respect, and without doubt have made my recovery better and quicker than I could of ever expected.

- Karl Halton

I have been treated by Craig at the Physiolounge several times over the last few years for various different running injuries. I’m always impressed by his knowledge, dedication and skill. He even managed In the last few weeks to remotely diagnose and cure a knee problem I had! I would highly recommend Physiolounge.

- Richard

I’ve had many injuries over the past few years including shoulder, hamstring and ankle to name a few. I’ve used Physio Lounge consistently and they’ve done a tremendous job.
