It’s possible. Vestibular assessments and treatments are designed to gently challenge your balance system, so some people may feel a little dizzy or off-balance afterwards. This is completely normal and usually settles quickly.
This varies from person to person. Some patients feel absolutely fine to drive, while others may prefer not to. For your first appointment, we recommend arranging a lift or having a backup plan just in case.
Your clinician will take a detailed history of your symptoms and may carry out a series of tests to assess your balance, eye movements, and how your inner ear is functioning. This helps us understand the cause of your symptoms and guide treatment.
In many cases, yes. If appropriate, treatment may begin during your first session. This could include specific exercises or techniques tailored to your condition. However, this will always depend on your symptoms and clinical findings.
Treatment is highly individual but often includes targeted exercises to improve balance, reduce dizziness, and retrain your brain’s response to movement. Your physiotherapist will guide you through these and may give you exercises to continue at home.
Yes, this can happen. Some exercises are designed to provoke mild symptoms to help your system adapt. This is a normal part of the rehabilitation process, and your therapist will ensure everything is kept within a manageable level.
There’s no special preparation needed, but it’s helpful to wear comfortable clothing and bring details of your symptoms, medications, or any relevant medical history.
There’s no rush to leave after your session. You’re very welcome to stay with us for a short while until you feel ready to go. Your clinician will also check how you’re feeling before you leave and advise you accordingly.
This depends on your condition, how long you’ve had symptoms, and how your body responds to treatment. Some people improve quickly, while others may need a short course of sessions.
